who we are

We’re edit.

Our salon is more than just a place to work—it’s a platform for your growth, creativity and balance.

Since our founding in 2011, we’ve built an environment where you can flourish, with a commitment to continuing education and support for your artistic pursuits.

our opportunities

edit has opened a few select spots to bring creative, kind, humble, and education-focused stylists to join our collaborative team. Interested? Complete the form below to get started.

Here’s what makes being a part of our edit team a truly rewarding experience.

  • For us, education is everything, and that’s supported from the top down. Our owner Pat is certified to offer CEU hours and takes education seriously. Learn from the best through formal education and on-the-floor mentorship, with techniques from Arrojo, R+Co and Reuzel education, in an environment that values creativity and refinement.

  • We celebrate and cultivate your unique creativity and encourage your artistic expression. Our weekly photoshoots let you create and collaborate on your unique vision, with opportunities to learn about lighting, camera work, model selection, and how to run your own shoot. Whether you’re entering photo contests or making social media video content, we understand the way creativity can inspire your craft.

  • We take on the burdens of salon management, so you can focus on what you do best—creating incredible hair and building relationships with your clients. From customer bookings to inventory management, our support system allows you to work without the stress of administrative tasks.

  • We take our craft seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Our warm, welcoming team thrives on collaboration, mutual respect, and teamwork. Enjoy the energy and vibe that can only come from a team that really likes each other.

  • Being departmentalized means our stylists can focus on what they love and do best – whether it's cutting, coloring, or styling. This approach not only elevates the quality of our services but also allows our team to develop unparalleled expertise in their chosen field.

  • Our stylists appreciate the stability of a consistent schedule and a regular paycheck with the freedom to manage their work and schedule in a way that suits their lifestyle.

  • Be part of a booked and busy salon known for our outstanding client service. Our long-standing reputation as one of Chicago’s top salons, and a Chicago Reader “Best Salon in Chicago” award, means working with a diverse and loyal client base who trusts and values our expertise.

  • Our established relationships with Wella Professionals, Arrojo, R+Co and Reuzel allow us to offer top-of-the-line retail to our guests and to use the best color and styling formulas available, plus gives us access to the best salon education available.

Katie, Stylist

“Patrick and Dina provide freedom combined with support. I always feel comfortable talking to them about scheduling, pricing, and client concerns, while they also give us a chance to be our own stylists. This is a huge change coming from a corporate structure where I felt like I was a dime a dozen. At edit, I love that I feel like my own business within a business.

our apprenticeship program

Just starting your career?

Our hands-on apprenticeship program prepares you for a sustainable and long-term career as a successful pro hairdresser in one of the city’s busiest and best neighborhood salons. Your training will go beyond technical education to include the client experience and relationship building that Edit is known for by our deeply loyal customers.

our hiring process

We take your interest in edit seriously. Here’s what happens if we believe you might be a great fit for our team.

1. After you submit your application, we thoroughly review your responses.

2. If your skills, passion, and talents align, we’ll send you an email or give you a call to schedule an interview at the salon.

3. You’ll meet with edit owner Patrick Lewis at the salon to discuss your background and career goals.

4. The next step is an in-person skills assessment, where you will bring 3 models into the salon to demonstrate your approach to your specialty and see if you like edit’s energy. If all goes well, we’ll extend an offer and begin our onboarding process.
